Super8 Chase

Excerpts from a short film I shot for my friend Chase Korte in the summer of 2005. I’m no film purist anymore, obviously, but I love shooting super8 or 16mm whenever I get a chance.

There’s something really wonderful, after shooting video for years, about the simplicity of a film camera; lens, shutter, sprocket, motor. It’s even more fun when you get to develop the film in a darkroom with your own two hands.

makes me want to throw my video camera off a bridge. can’t wait to get my hands on mm. i think i may be a film purist but don’t know it yet.
when chase walks out on the b&w i almost also want to hear the lighter flick as he pushes outward, the inhale, the exhale.
this flick, as it were, will definitely make it to kevin obsatz’s early super works in the bonus features’ menu of his future feature film dvd release.

I don’t care what Peter Jackson sez: there’s no way video will ever capture the satin-marshmallow feeling that super8 has. Gawd, I love it so! *sniff*
